What pitch prop should i spin on my 183 Elite Champion

    Hi,

I am from sunny south Africa and just imported my new 183 Champion from the States. I previously owned a Skeeter and fished of all the top name brands. I was lucky enough to catch a ride on the only champion, owned by a good mate, in our country and fell in love with it since day one.

To cut a long story short, our laws up here are not as enforced as in the States and we allowed to hang a motor on the back end of the boats, way over the max recommend horse power. I took my brand new 200 VMAX hpdi off my skeeter and hung it on the back of the 183 Elite.

Do u have any recommendation for pitch size. I am keen on spinning a original yamaha vmax 23 pitch??? What types of top-end do you think i am capable of?

Oh man, now you have made all of us green with envy, a 183 with a 200 HPDI!

A 25 or 26 Tempist would be my first choices. HANG ON, YEHAAAAAAAA MATE!

We could hang a 300 on it if we wanted to in the states. Insurance might be a little tough to come by though.

What a cool thing the internet is. I live in Canada, most of you are in the U.S., and we get to talk to a guy in South Africa about our favorite bass boats. This is really a great website! Thanks Al!!!!

South Africa has some great bass fishermen. I have one guy who comes to fish with me once a year and he's top-notch. What's the name of that boat they build over there?

    Hey Guys,

Thanks for your response, it's really awesome to get some tips from the other side of the world. Concerning the boats that are manufactured up here, they mostly built for top end speed. I reside on the banks of one of the most productive river systems in the country and most guys up here are getting an average top end on their bass boats of 125km per hour. I piloted a tornado from Zim with a 250 Vmax HPDI pinning a 27 pitch trophy at 139km per hour (This is the fastest ride i ever had on a bass boat)

Zimbabwe, our neighbouring country, are probably the best boat builders when it comes to all round performance on bass boats. Most of the SA fisherman are fishing off these Zimbabwe boats like Tornados, Vipers, Thunderbirds, Renegades etc. These boat all have ample space and are very light. They all in the 17 to 21 ft range and out perform most of the american boats on top end speed.

Some other south African rigs that are built locally are Rebels, Terminator and the likes of others. We also have various American rigs which obviously stand out from the rest, but come with the price tag. Nitro, Skeeter, Triton, Rangers and the two Champions (best FAT ASS boat by far) that are in the country now etc.

When it come to comparing the end products there are no match, its like comparing apples with pears. The local and ZIM boats will never ever have the finish of an american rig!!

    Re: (NicStix)

How about some pix of those other boats you are talking about? Would be interesting to see and cool to check other folks ideas.

    139km per hour = over 86 MPH
