    Bad start to 2008

only because I was not in my Champion Saturday when I caught these!!
Newton Lake, central Illinois cooling lake. 57-61 degree water. Crankbaits.
I was fishing with my fishing partner Steve out of his jon boat. Just tuning up for Reelfoot in a couple of weeks. The big one was 7 pounds, there was a 4.2 a 4.1 and a 3.8.

Oh man . Looks like you had a great day. I thought really hard about hitting some of those illinois power plant lakes this year, but didn't have the funds or time. Next year I think I will for sure travel and fish some of them to help out the urge.

Yeah but those fish would have never been caught out of an expensive bass boat. Everyone knows that you catch more and bigger fish in a jon boat.

Thats how it goes for me anyway. I take my jon boat waaaaaay the rivers where the fish pack a lunch.

Hey John at least you wore some Champion Apparel underneath your camo. I am sure your boat was there in spirit!

Re: Bad start to 2008 (U.S. eh Champ!)

I had my Champion jacket to wear, but the coveralls ended up feeling good all day. I like my high neck Champion shirts when it's cold out... which in Illinois is until about July!

Re: Bad start to 2008 (fishinjim)

    Jim,
Funny looking or not, the two hat rig works well. I do it when I am hunting and fishng in cold weather. The last thing that big buck see's is that guy with the goofy looking hat at full draw!

I knew a fella that used to tell me if you looked good , you felt good, you fished good. That wasn't so true for him. I think if I can stay warm/comfortable and not think of how stupid I am or how cold it is, I can fish better.

I don't think its funny. I do it all the time at work. I'm an industrial electrician and often have to go in and out of the cold a lot throughout a day, but I almost always wear some kind of hat. When I go outside I throw the stocking cap on quick and then just take it off when I get back inside the building. It works really good.
