    Hey Champer196

Hey I notice that you have a 196 with a 200 HO. I am in the process of repowering my 2003 188 with a 2005 200 HO, what kind of performance are you seeing from your combination and what issues have you had (if any) with that motor.

    Thanks in advance

    Re: Hey Champer196 (champ188)

I think that you will really like that motor. I have had absolutely zero problems with it (knock on wood). Had for a little over a year now. I have done some fairly long runs with it on Table Rock, LOZ and Truman 30-40 miles each way and as long as I stay out of the throttle it does amazingly well as far as fuel consumption. Same with oil.

As far as performance I can get right at 67 MPH @5950 RPM with 52 gallons of fuel, myself and my tackle for the day. It pushes my 196 right up out of the hole and on plane very well. For a fairly big boat it does very well on it. It should push a 188 very good.

Last fall I was on Table Rock with my partner who weighs in at around 285 and myself at 210, we had a full fuel tank and bass pro shops loaded in the boat and I was getting 63-64 MPH and let me tell you we were LOADED HEAVY every nook and cranny was full.

Probably a long answer to what should have be a short one but that kind of gives you an idea how strong these motors are.

    Re: Hey Champer196 (Champer196)

Thanks for the response. Thats what I was looking for. the longest run I will be making up here is around 25 miles one way. I had a 200 EFI merc on mine and the gas and oil should be like night and day. I cant wait until the ice melts around here. Thanks again for your help.
