Take it to a machine shop and have them remove the bolt and install a helicoil, Why cut corners. It came with 4, install it back with 4. Better safe than sorry.
Good Luck.

Happens all the time, drill it out & install a helicoil. (The Machine shop may be a good idea if your not experienced in drilling stainless.
Go to one of your local tool stores and get a set of "Easy Outs". You drill a hole in the end of the bolt that broke off. Then you thread in the appropriate size Easy Out into the
hole. They are sharply tapered and left hand thread. So as you screw the Easy Out into
the broken bolt, it simaltaneously backs it out.
I STRONGLY recommend that you do not use an easy out. As often as not, they will break off and leave a hardened peice of tool steel in the bolt. When you take it to the machine shop it will be a much more difficult (read expensive) to remove and the guy will give you $hit. jmo
if you want to try it yourself get a left handed drill bit of appropriate size. many times it will back out the bolt while drilling counter closckwise.
If it doesn't work then you haven't changed a thing for the shop work
I have NEVER had any luck using a easy out,period.....and have broken a few while trying to remove the broken bolt, real pain the the a$$ when that happens........
"Stay thirsty my friends"
I also broke one off one time. My fault. Used the wrong size tool for the size of the bolt.
I have also used them very succesfully in other situations. I guess each incedent would
have to be judged on its own merit to determine best coarse of action.
My .02, Take it to a machine shop, especially if the bolt is broke off into aluminum. Any carbon metal bolt mixed with aluminum is a B&%$^ to get out most times, add being around water makes it worse!! Unless you've had good luck with it. Patience is a virtue when doing this kind of job.
Ok......you guys win! Ira,.. don't use an easy out. Take it to a machine shop instead!!!!

I extract them all the time but I know he may brake the easy out off and regret not taking the unit to the machine shop in the first place. I have plenty of experince getting out broken bolts and there is that fine line before you snap off the easy out. Cross it and you will be soooooorrrrryyy you did.![]()
