    No oil light intermittent

Have an 02 225 h.o. that when I first start it up the whistle and light come on saying no oil. Turn the key off and restart the motor and then everything is fine. Sometimes after traveling a mile to 3 miles, the whistle and light come on again, and I have to shut the motor off and then restart and everything is fine. I live up in Minnesota and it started happening a couple of months ago, and now that its getting cold (Yeah we fish even though its only 30 degrees) it is happening more often. Talked to the dealer and he said it's probably a pressure switch or something in the computer that would have to be reloaded in order to tell the motor that's its cold out so up the pressure to pump the oil. Any one else had this problem and or some other ideas? Thanks for your time and effort. Brent

    Do you use XD-100 oil?

Xd-100 oil eliminates this with the DI.s in the colder months. XD-50 did this on my 03,changed and it hasn't happened again, also I like the fact that I don't need to decarb since I'm staying with it all year.

There is a real good chance the the oil lift pump is getting weak, I'd get the lift pump pressure checked! It is an 02', so it might be 4-5 years old!

I have an 05 DI and I have been having the same problem ONLY since it has gotten cold. Change to 100 from the 50 is what I was told to do. Gonna try that and will let you know how it does when I take her out again.

Re: No oil light intermittent (Bassin Billy)

    Guys,

What are the odds that BRP might come out with a new calibration for the oil senors on the DI's to combat this issue?

This problem just started to appear on my motor and I don't plan on swithing to XD100... I'm also wondering why this isn't a problem on all DI's. I've got twins and only one motor does this. I also didn't have this problem last December or back in March of this year.

    Billy,

How cold does it get down there in GA that your having this problem? Mine only does it when the air temp is below 35F.

I wound up putting a oil pump on mine as the oil light and alarm got worse.

What this tell's me is that the problem isn't with the overall design, but with the oil pump getting weak. If it wasn't that then why would one of my motors be fine and the other tell me I had no oil. Also if it's not the pump, why would a new pump fix the problem.

Hmmmm....... I think I'm going to have to speak with my dealer about a new pump under the warrenty.

Mike, you replaced the oil injector not the lift pump.
