cajun electrical issue with trolling motor

Im assuming that most of the cajuns are set up like mine with 3 toggle switches up front near the trolling motor plug. Im having an issue with my trolling toggle switch. It has 3 positions: up is charge, the middle has no writing and down is troll. My issue is in the troll position. If its in this position the circuit breaker will trip and I loose power to my trolling motor. It works just fine on both the other positions. My boat came with no trolling motor but was factory equipped with one, so I bought one from bass pro shop. Its a 12V motor and I know i have it hooked up correctly.

Re: cajun electrical issue with trolling motor (currentobsession)

If memory serves me those switch positions are: Charge/12v/24v. If you are running strictly 12v you may have one of the 24v hot wires used to ground. If that is the case when you use the 12v position you would be fine but when switched to the 24v position it would create a dead short.

Thanks for the reply, that was my problem. I unhooked the 24v wire from the circuitbreaker and it works fine now.
