    Jackplate on a Cajun.

Let's see if we can get some traffic in the Cajun room. Here's what I got going on. Right now I have a 6" plate on my '95 Cajun xl. With a 150hp johnson hanging on that. I have an opportunity to swap my 6" plate for a 10" plate. I've been thinking about finding a 200hp motor also. So my question is, if I put the 10" plate on now, is that going to be to much plate before I can get a 200hp to put on there? Would like to hear all opinions on this. By the way, I already posted this in the setup forum, and only got one response. I thought maybe the Cajun owners could give me a better idea if this would work or not. Thanks.

Do we not have anyone in the Cajun forum anymore? Did you guys all sell your boats?

I think I have the same boat and it is rated for up to 150 HP. I do not have a jack plate and was wondering. How did the jack plate help your boat?

Mine is rated for a 175, I have a six inch plate on there now. It's great for tuning and getting optimum performance. I did just talk to a buddy, and he told me the ten inch should work out good for my setup.

I pay attention to whats going on. Just dont post that often. My Cajun is still is disrepair. Economy has had an undesirable affect on trying to resurrect her.

I just sold a '94 209 xxl. It had a 6 inch plate and needed at least twice that much. Rated for 200 but needed a 250. I looked at adding another 6 inches of setback, but my steering cables were not long enough for the extra setback. The cost of new steering system and the plate was more than I wanted to pay. If you can get by without new cables you cannot go wrong with more setback. These boats are so nose heavy they need all the help they can get with lift.

Thanks for the input. I had a opportunity to trade a guy s even up for a 10" plate. Since I took too long, he traded someone else. Oh well. I will keep looking for one. I really want to put a 200hp. on my rig with a 10" plate and see what it will do.

I would love to have your 200 venom on the back of my rig. I think that would scoot me along really well.
