How to redo Rear Deck Questions

I need to rebuild the rear deck on my 93 178 Pro Travis Edition.
Is 20lb carpet better than 16lb carpet for this.
What is the best glue for the carpet.
Is there a filler I can use around the edges of the plywood.
Also what adhesive should I use under the Plywood?
I am going with Marine Grade Plywood, should I put a layer of fiberglass over the top?
Guess you can tell I have never done this before. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Since I am almost 60 this will be the 2nd boat (first was a 1975 arrow glass Muskie bought in 1999 for $800) and probably the last so I would like to do it right.

Having redone several boats and in the process of redoing 2 others, if you are keeping the boat definatly glass the marine plywood, use 20ounce carpet and use outdoor carpet glue. Post some pictures.

Still have a question.
What should I use to seal the Plywood to the fiberglass.
Have ordered a swatch of carpet from Marine carpets (20lb.) to make sure it matches.
I will post before pictures probably next week and keep you informed how it goes.

I would like to get this boat back to great condition. I am putting it on the water for the first time this Saturday. Wish me luck. Not to worried about the boat but the motor is a different story.
