    Finding the sweet spot...

I put a 10" Bob's Hydraulic Jackplate on a while back and finally broke in my new lower unit as well. I've been fooling around with the trim and jackplate height but how do you find the sweet spot as to where the correct trim angle and jackplate height is?

That is the same setup I have on my 210, here is what I did. First you have to treat that hydaulic like it was a manual. I knew that my 210 ran best at 1"above the pad so I setup the hydraulic at 1"above and them looked at my digital gauge for the Bobs to see what it said and that is where I would lift it to after I got on plane. If you dont have the digital gauge for the Bobs plate you definately need it. To take off I would lower both the trim and the plate all of the way, then as soon as on plane I would raise both at the same time till I hit the 1" mark on the plate, and the trim I would raise till I lost water pressure or speed then bump it back down a little. Remember that Bobs is more for shallow water than anything else, so most of the time it will remain the same height but with mine I had a better hole shot if I lowered it all the way down on takeoff. Did you have a sweet spot on your 210 with the manual plate before the Bobs? If so that is where I would mark the Bobs for running. Remember that I am running a TXP and they like to be surfaced so yours might be a different height than mine was depending on your prop

    Thanks.

I have the digital gauge but didn't have it set up correctly with the manual jackplate. I am running a 27T1.

I might not be dead on here but I have heard that the T yamaha props like to be run deeper so you might want to try setting your plate at 1" below pad and see what your boat will do at that height. Try bumping just the Bobs up from there little by little while watching your water pressure closely. Just remember that the 210's like to run the best with the nose high
