I was wondering what the benefits of each motor would be versus the other. If the 225 etec ho would perform as good as the 250 etec what would I need with bigger motor. Especially if the smaller motor would be getting better fuel economy?One of these motors would be mounted on a 21x soon. Thanks for your help.
The 225 would be faster on top end because of the gear case, they both will get about the same miles per gallon.

There were some improvements to the gear set so it could handle the torque of the DI HO and the E-Tec.
There is a way to tell if the gear case has the improvements, under the plate where the torque tab would be there is a electronically etched number, this improvement was made last year so unless you have had a gear case replaced with a new Bomb gear case in the last year you want have the new Lightning.
