    txp hub problems

need some help if possible. i recently purchased a used 27 txp b&b by mark of the prop boards, this prop has swapped hands a couple of times but is still in good shape. the prop was set up for a 202 blazer by mark , and it runs great but i have spun the hub twice in the past 2 months! when i recieved the prop it did not have the hub washer that fits between the prop and foot. i used my washer from my yamaha prop since both props where roughly the same hub size, and the washer seemed to fit. could this be my problem or is something else wrong? i am worried it may happen again , and it has only done it on runs 15 miles or more!

Which hub and only does it on runs of 15 miles or more, well there is part of the issue. I take it is has the rubber hub or flow torq hub and it is melting. The prop needs some vent holes for the excess exhaust gas that is causing the hub to get too hot.

yes it is melting and it has pvs holes already but they all have a plastic plugs with smaller holes in them , and the rubber is melting.

should not still be melting. Contact Mark and send it to him and tell him your problem. My buddy runs a rubber hub of his in a TXP on a 300 HPDI with no trouble. Have him to drill the cooling hole in the hub also.

greg , the prop also has the cooling holes, is there another hub that i should run instead of the rubber one? also my dealer thinks it could be the washer or i am running engine to high. propshaft about 3/4 below pad. thanks for the info!

Send it to mark and tell him what problem you're having.. I run mine above the pad and so does the guy with the 300.

This is a long shot, but problems with rubber hubs could indicate a bigger problem with lean fuel mixture causing exhaust gas temps to be very high. I know with the old carb. 2.5 Mercury's when the boys would lean them down trying to squeeze a few more horsepower they would spin the hubs, thats if they ran long enough. A lot of times the pistons would get "soft" first, they sure did run good though!!

It will slip worse coming on plane if you remove the plugs.
