    2004 blazer 180

I have 2004 blazer 180 with a 150 vmax carb on it and i need some speed. I have tried several props and the best speed i have gotten is around 64.5......any suggestions? I think the lower unit being a 2 to 1 hurts the top end some....holeshot is great. I've tried a 26 turbo txp 4 blade, a worked 26 tempest plus and a worked 25 yamaha on it and none of these will bog the motoe any out of the hole. I would be willing to trade the yamaha for a merc 150 or 2.5 200.

I'm not sure what you expect from a 150 hp... The 25M pro series will be tough to beat on that set up.

You can get that yammy to run a whole lot faster. I had a 98 150 pro-v on an 18 foot sprint that went from 63 to 73 gps. I have an 18 ft. Blazer now and I know your boat is faster than my old Sprint. It will take a different set up than normal with the 2:1 gear but it will still work. You have to hydro tec it out. Run a bob's nosecone with dual hoses, find a prop that will run high, lift flat, and get the whole boat cleaned up. That motor needs to turn about 6200. I ran a 28 pitch tro4 on my sprint at 6300. You can make about 210-215 horsepower with the 150 without loosing any reliablity, just besure you find someone who knows what they are doing with the motor work. BY the way I didn't go into the motor at all everthing I did was external bolt on hop ups. I kept the150 carbs a just rejeted them.

I know that a 150 will run better, i had a 19 ft javelin with a 150 xr6 merc with a bob's tuner and it would gps 68-69 mph all day.
