Just put an HPDI lower unit on my boat this evening...

hopefully I can see how how it does this w/e if the weather is good. The spot that is showing on the left side is some type of camera flash. My buddy did a great job painting this lower unit.

Ge blazer, the lower unit looks great. You tolled me once your boat ran the best at 1 inch over pad. What are going to run the hpdi lower unit at ? My 202, 15jp 250 hpdi, and 30txp starts getting low on the water pressure at 1/2 over pad. At a 1/2 over pad I had about 10 to 12 p.s.i on the water pressure. Had to modified the water intake to get my pressure up to 17 to 20 p.s.i range. I was running my boat at even pad and you tolled me to move my motor up until I started losing water pressure it runs better now. Thanks for the help you gave me.

Re: Just put an HPDI lower unit on my boat this evening... (JTM)

They do run the best where I told you with a lower unit that could take the height. My problem is I usually run heavy and most of my wot runs are about 1/2" above now. I am thinking that this case will run faster than my other one simply because of the drag factor. This one is about 3" shorter (from nosecone to end of case), so in theory it should run as good a speed at a little lower setting....make sense?? Also, there is a possibility I could get a little more lift than I do now.

I believe your right the hpdi lower unit will run faster , because of less drag. If you will let us where it runs the best. I see you are running the 4 blade txp. You will have a cold day toworrow. Good luck!

Nice paint job...obviously not a touch up job with a rattle can! Looks great!

Is the 4 blade more stable at top end Greg? Post some numbers...wind chill that is

JTM, what did you do to your water intakes to get the pressure up like that???

As far as handling, i can't tell a bunch of difference in the 2 props at wot. The 4 blade has a better holeshot and midrange.

When I was running a 250 HPDI, Robbie Patterson blueprinted my gear case and it was good for nearly 5mph more over stock.

Re: Just put an HPDI lower unit on my boat this evening... (RedBlazer)

Doug, Robbie Patterson (Propeller Dynamics, Chester, Va) is the only guy that Darris Allison uses for his personal lower unit modifications. Robbie works on all motor brands and does an amazing job. Blueprinting a lower unit is basically the same as blueprinting a prop...he fixes the factory flaws that occur during mass production.

He recently worked on my brand new 2008 Merc Sportmaster lower unit and that Allison runs like its on rails. You would assume that a brand new gear case from Mercury racing would be flawless...but mine was junk.

It's only a couple hundered bucks...
