    Scared in Colorado

Hey Guys, im the one that bought Shirtmans 210. Got it yesterday, great looking boat. I took it to Navajo lake this morning, 6100 ft elevation. Boat came with a 4 blade 27 pitch. I couldnt get it out of the hole, my friend stood up front and then it got up slowly. Once it was up it worked great, i was flying. He had to leave and i went back out by myself, i couldnt get it on plane by myself, so i put it on the trailer and went up to the little boat shop. He had a stainless 4 blade 24 pitch, i bought it and its not enough. So i guess i try a 25 or 26? Something that made me a little nervous, the wind started blowing and the lake was pretty choppy, i turned around and glanced at the motor while i was running pretty hard in the rough water and that 250 was bouncing around so hard that i really was worried that it was going to snap off. This is the first boat that ive owned with a jackplate, do they just bounce around more because they are sticking out so far? Any help would be great, Thanks

You have a great boat. I think the motor is jacked up high for best speed and the prop must have been exiting the water causing load changes. Sounds like you may want to try a 25P TXP-OT4 for that high of elevation... If you ever want to sell that 27P 4 blade you have.... Let me know first. I love that prop on my boat. I already have one, But you never know when you might need another prop.

That motor has rubber motor mounts and moves a bit.... I would make sure all the motor and jackplate bolts are tight just to be safe.

Thanks for the heads up. I went out and looked and there was a 1/4 inch gap where the jack plate mounts to the transom. I got it all tightened up and its looking good. The top was where the gap was and those top 2 bolts were really loose, the bottom 2 loose also but not as bad. I will look into that 25 txp. thanks for the help

Hooper is near alamosa or monte vista. Fishing has been ok at Navajo. Usually takes 13+ to win a tourny. A guy about a month ago caught 22 pounds and won.

Clay and Mike I replaced the motor mounts when I did the motor mod's. It now has hard mounts. As I mentioned Clay there is not much prop in the water, I have that motor high about 1.25 to 1.5 inches above pad. Lower it and put more prop and LU in the water.

A lot of Guy's never check their bolts till end of year you need to check bolts every two to three times out. Make sure your bolts haven't RIB out a bit, that usually happens when bolts are not check periodically. That cause them to get loose faster I hope that's not the case sounds like you have a nice boat.
