Why do these keep failing for me? Anyone else have trouble with these? Mine is the 150

Mike,
Don't know much about Pro Mariner chargers, but my Dual Pro has failed twice because of condensation build up in my compartments. Installed fan in battery compartment and plug in during hot days.

Same problem. Pro Mariner replaced mine 2 week ago. Went to fish yesterday and everything was fine. Plugged it up when I returned, still worked normal. Checked it today & charger has gone out again. No condensation in my bilge area. Rear deck lid stays open when its in the garage. I had the same problem with Pro Mariner in 1996. Had 3 chargers go out in 9 months so I changed to a Dual Pro with no problems in 4 years. Was hoping Pro Mariner had improved since then. Guess not!

The chargers are waterproof so condensation shouldn't matter. I guess I'll use their charger till they won't replace anymore.![]()
They ARE suppost to be water-proof, but sometimes the seals give out. Dual Pro has replaced it everytime. No questions asked. All the clear windows with the LED's were coated with water drops. The second one had about a cup of water in it.
Two cents!

They're junk! My first one died within ten months,So after six calls to pro mariner, I finally got to talk to their warranty guy. They sent me a brand new one and the return slip for the old one within, 2 days. Then 9 months later the replacment died. So I figured this one would be warranted also. Not! Apparently since the first one had a one year warranty they would only warranty the replacement for the remainder of that first year.(2months) But they were very willing to sell me a replacement for the second one for a $150.00 This one would also have a new full one year warranty!!! Wow! Lucky me!![]()
Guys
I worked with ProMariner on this exact issue. This is a ProMariner issue only when mounted in a Blazer. Long story short, if the unit is mounted on the transom, flip the charger upside down. Heat sink is on the bottom when right side up. The Blazer transom gussets block convection cooling. Convection cooling is restored when mounted upside down and the heat sink is on top.
Failure mode...."working fine, go the lake, come home, nothing happens...."
Vyper and I went through 7 chargers between us in less than a year before I cracked one open and got on the phone with ProMariner. Since we flipped them (actually Vyper flipped his and mine is in the sponson), no more failures.

Mine has been mounted upside down for quite a few months now and has performed perfect. I will say Pro Mariner has been very helpful in getting a replacement charger there next day when mine failed and were willing to listen to what we thought the problem was.

Thanks for the info about turning charger upside down. I just replaced my PRO 150 under warranty last week but I paid $50 freight to get it sent out 2 day.
I will go turn it today.

I replaced 3 Pro Mariner Tournament 150's under warranty when they were mounted on the starboard side behind the batteries(this is the location the charger was mounted by Blazer) on my 210 within first 2 years after purchasing the boat in 2003. The last charger I mounted on the port side behind the batteries which also placed the charger upside down. Have not had a problem with the charger since and it has been over a year.
I have had two chargers go out in less than a month on my new 06' 210. Both were mounted on the port side brace from the transom. Not sure if that's what being called the gusset? The charger has plenty of room on all sides for cooling. Was wondering if the fact that the braces have carpet on them could have an effect. Pro Mariner's web page states that they should not be mounted on carpet because it will cause them to overheat?![]()
