Anybody running a aftermarket nose cone on a 210?

Is anybody here running a nose cone on there yammie 250 and a 210 combo? After some prop work and playing around I have got mine running 83.4 at 6000r's.

The reason I am thinking about putting a cone on is that it has blown out twice with me and I was told by a guy who used to test yamaha motors not to run the stock lower unit over 80-81 or it would blow out. I just dont want to slow the boat down any by adding a cone. What do you guys think?

It won't slow down, i just don't think it will help a 210 that much. Nose cones need to be run high, and a 210 does not like it above the pad.

That is kinda what I figured GE. I am just trying to prevent the thing from making those 90 degree turns at 80 plus again. Not alot of fun.

As funny as this sounds, the 210 will run the best at about 1 1/2 to 2" below the pad. The boat loves to run bow high. Changing lower units to a nose cone loses lift. Set it at 1 1/2" below and your blowout problems will stop with a 14 3/4 or 15 1/8 diameter prop. These boats like a lot of trim.

I have mine set around 1" below now or somewhere close. I have run it as high as 3/4" below and still had the same lift as I do at 2" below just kinda iffy on water pressure. The blueprinted 29T1 is the only prop that blows out at speed. Both of my blueprinted 27T's run great but get in the limiter easily in the cool weather.

Guess I will set it back down 1/2 inch and see what it does.

Sounds like you need a 28 TXP.

Yep, I know two guys with 210s, and a nosecone has never come to mind to me to help performance. I think with a 202 it may help in some applications (depending on HP).

You know the funny thing is the factory told me to get a cone. I have found a coned lower unit I am going to try for kicks and giggles. Thanks for the advise guys.

You could always see if you can find a buddy to let you try a HPDI case...
