There shouldn't be. People leave their big fiberglass Cabin cruiser types and sailboats in water year round. It may get some algea on your boat but nothing structurally harming IMO.

Must be nice to be able to take a 45 day vacation

Leaving it in the water is a risk. You could experience some osmosis or blistering of the hull. Maybe, maybe not...

The larger saltwater rigs have their bottoms painted with anti-fouling paint to help prevent algea and potential blistering of the fiberglass bottom.

If it was me, no way 3-4 days max. The thought of having to use acid and the risk of blistering is not worth it for me.

45 day vacation would be nice but, only have one week off with weekends before & did not want to trailer boat back home, will be fishing bull shoals exclusively thru spring so I would be able to tow boat with truck first trip leave at dock & drive car back for better gas mileage but sounds like blistering could be a problem unsure what causes it

Dude don't even think about it.

Go buy an inexpensive waterproof cover at BPS and find a place to store it near by, even if it doesn't have a covered area. The cover will protect it from sun damage and rain. They also sell an inexpensive suspension system for the cover that tents it to prevent water pooling.

Most marinas on large lakes have fenced and secure storage areas that will rent you a uncovered spot for little to nothing.

Re: leaving boat in water for a month (blakesfav)

Boats are made with a variety of resins.

Polyester resin = the cheapest and most extensively used in a lot of boat-building today but somewhat permeable to water absorbtion

Vinyl resin = more expensive, occasionally blended with poly reisin, and substantially less permeable to water absorbtion

Epoxy resin = very expensive, hard to work with, put almost completely resistant to water absorbtion

Regardless, 45 days is a long time to let your baby soak in the tub without risk of portions of the hull bubble-blistering on you.

NO way would i do it, ive seen the effects of my buddys flats boat that sat in the water for an extended period of time. I would not leave any boat in the water for longer then 7 days without having some sort of bottom paint on the hull.

All I know is I have left my Stratos, my Allison and my dad has left his 1968 Newman Ski boat (that he has had since new in 68) and I have friends that have left their Mastercrafts in a slip at Table Rock from anywhere of one to three weeks They have done this for 40 years) and have never had an issue. The most I have with my Allison is a week to 10 days and have yet to have any issues. In fact, I just literally came in fromwaxing the bottom of my boat (including the pad )and besides a few scratches...all is good. 45 days may be stretching it ...good point about the paint.
