    Evinrude Intruder 150

I'm having problems with my trim guage and am not alone with this problem as I've seen in other posts. My problem is to locate the ground to start with that possible problem first. I admit I haven't tried looking for it yet but know that if I was really persistent I could trace the wire from the gauge back to the motor. I also know that I can probably save a ton of time by just asking for someone to narrow it down for me. So, what am I looking for under the cover? I know my way around a car pretty well so I'm somewhat mechanically inclined, but I haven't spent a lot of time (yet) under the cover of a boat motor and I know when I open it up it's relatively simple save the wiring.

    Thanks for any help.

you didn't actually say what the problem is or the model/year of your motor.

That being said first thing to check with trim is your relays and switches. Relays are on port side of motor on top. easy to spot they are the only relays up there. Post some more info on whats happening and some of these more seasoned vets will be along to sort you out.

    Details are always helpful...

When I trim up the motor reaches a certain point and the gage tops out. When I trim down, the motor reaches a point and the gage bottoms out. Nothing in between. Model year is 1992 Evinrude 150 Intruder.

    Thanks.

the first item to check would be the trim sending unit. The ground for the gauge will be under the dash and I believe is black. All the grounds should be common. The sending unit can be adjusted.

The sending unit has a green ground that is usually bolted between the unit and the motor bracket.

I was having the exact problem with my 92 Johnson Fast Strike. It was the trim sending unit. Think it was around 50 bucks. Do a search on here ,I posted it.
