Can you help the new guy with an oil question

I am new to this forum, but it sure looks like the place to go for great E-tec info. I am picking up my new rig this weekend, and it has a 2006 225 HO. It has been run by a walleye tournament pro this season, and should have about 250 hours on it. Unfortunately, he opted to run XD-50 in the motor, since he thought it would be cheaper. His dealer reconfigured it as such and sent him on his way. After reading up on this board, and other BRP info, I am convinced I want to run xd-100 in this motor. I would be suprised if at the end of this boats life for my use, that it will have another 300 hours on it, but I want to make sure I treat it right. My question is, should I mix the 50 and the 100, and leave it configured for 50 for awhile, or try and drain the 50 right away, fill it with 100 and reconfigure after some run time?
    Thanks for the help.http://www.bbcboards.net/zeropost?cmd=newtopic&id=51#

    Welcome to the BBC.

Run the oil tank down to about 1/2 or lower, pour in the XD-100 and run above 2000 RPM's for two hours, then have the dealer set it for XD-100 and Enjoy your E-Tec.

Thanks Rusty, I will do it that way. One more question, I am an engineer(degreed and practical) and I really enjoy keeping on top of my own equipment. Dont get me wrong, I usually know when it is time to "call the guy", and let the trained folks that are masters at their field take over. That having been said, it would seem to me that with the pc configuration tool, a handy fella could not only keep tabs on when his E-Tec is ready for a visit to the dealer, but also could be a tool for making changes when appropriate. Is this a good idea, or are there warranty issues with this?
