XB 21 pro sport slow speeds

How slow can the 21s go and still stay on plan. If an other prop or jack plae height will help, please let me know. Plan on pulling skiers and stuff too. And a wake boarder needs a lil slower speed. Can I do it?

I've never pulled a tuber but I can stay on plane at about 2500 rpm.

I pull tubes with my 2+2 with no issues. A good prop in the 25 or so range helps. Also you might want to look into the hydrofoil that Allison sells for slow speeds.

While I must say my brothers XB21 Prosport is just about perfect ; the one area I find a bit off is low speed performance... It porpoises a bit at slow speeds like around 20 mph or less... I think it would benefit from transom wedges to give a little more negative tuck in when trimmed all the way down or possibly a foil...Other than that ... Truly Great Boat... one more fantastic thing about the XB21 that nobody mentions is that they don,t spear waves...

Re: XB 21 pro sport slow speeds (canadablazer)

    Michael,
All of the 21's we rig have a 2 degree wedge installed between the jack plate and engine to make for a quicker hole shot. The ProSport is the only 21 that has that porpoise area that I've seen. If your brothers boat does not have the wedges, I would highly recommend installing them to knock that problem out.
I agree that someone would have be totally out of control to spear a wave. I haven't heard of anyone doing so as of yet.

Lee you don't have to be out of control to spear a wave. If you are going with the waves and are on top of a 4 or 5 footer if you don;t slow down in time and crest over it guess what, your getting wet.

In my BasSport Pro 300XS with the family and tubing, i use a stock 25p Trophy with no problem.

Re: XB 21 pro sport slow speeds (The Whip)

With a foil negative wedges skid planer foil and a 26p 4 blade prop I towed a 6 year old on skis at 16 to17 gps with the 23 and 24 I picked up this winter it should have an even better low speed control

Thank you guys for all the info. I am so stoked, I can't wait. Everyone keep your fingers crossed that the deal goes through. I look forward to this summer in an "A" boat. I feel sure it will meet all the needs I have set.

    Hey Manny,
I'll have to agree with you there, I was thinking of normal bass boat water not true 4 and 5 footers.
I've been in 35' sport fishing boats that would throw green water over the flybridge in 5 footers.
    All boats have their limits.

Re: XB 21 pro sport slow speeds (Props4u2)

My brother and I won the 2008 Bass Pro Shops Simcoe Open on a gale force wind October day that was close to being called off because of the ferocity of the weather.... Lake Simcoe had 8 - 10 footers that day and we had to cut across the most open place on it to get back to weigh in .. We never speared even one wave.. I know that it is possible to spear waves with any boat if you try ,but ,I have been in lots of bass boats and the Allison XB21 is the most forgiving in the wave spearing area.. They are great boats...

Re: XB 21 pro sport slow speeds (canadablazer)

I can vouch for Canadablazer about the BPS open TX they won in true 8 foot waves. Lake Simcoe is very unforgiving. At the 2010 BPS Lake Simcoe open a 2010 250 SHO sit's at the bottom of 100 feet that was mounted on a 2010 Ranger Z521.

Lee, don't underestimate bass boats in big water. Not myself because I won't abuse my awesome Allison, but in previous boats that I didn't care about I would venture out into 4 to 6 foot wave just for fun. Skill and common sense will get you out and back with no problem. Last year at one of the local tourney's boater's had to travel 40 to 60 miles in 6 to 8 footers.

Anyways sorry for blabbing on, I am not looking for a big water 5 blade prop, but a speed prop from you and Robbie. As i get older I want to play it safer lol...

    That's very impressive Michael.
A belated congratulations by the way!!!

I didn't think a Ranger would sink, or so they say???

Re: XB 21 pro sport slow speeds (Props4u2)

Thanks Manny and Lee ... Simcoe is an amazing smallmouth fishery . We had 28.36 for five smallies for our win . Last year the winners had 31.5 lbs for five and the top five teams had over 29 lbs ... Lee I don,t think the Ranger sank; just the SHO ripped away ...The lake can be brutal on equioment...
