Increased RPMs on 2004 225 Rude

Guys,

My 2004 225 Rude (not HO) on my 20 foot champion has historically run about 5900 RPM max. Lately on rare days when I can air it out, I mash the throddle and she runs like 6300 RPMs but almost seems slower. I don't think it's good to run it that high on the tach, so I don't get a long enough run to see a good speed, but GPS sure don't lie, and it seems a couple mph slower. This motor probably has 200-250 hrs on it. Any ideas? Spray is about a foot higher than the motor cover, but always has been since initial set up. 4 blade renegade, fixed 10" jackplate.

I'm not a speed junkie, but am concerned about the RPMs.

sounds like you are over trimmed. just touch the trim switch down a little at a time. the boat should go faster especially as the hull runs flatter. Too high bow attitude is actually driving or pushing the stern into the water rather than lifting it.

otherwise more rpm, and less speed indicated too much prop slippage.

Is it possible that your hub is slipping in the prop?

If you have a PDA with the SW then pull a profile. See what is going on.

And by all means keep that 04 motor under 5800 rpm's.....chris
