    300XS on a 21 PS

I'm picking up my new 21 PS from C and O tomorrow. I'm going to run my 225X on it for a while, but I know that boat won't run like my XB03 did with the same motor, so I probably won't be satisfied with the speed for long. My plan is to run my 225X for a year or so, then trade up to 250XS or 300XS. Who has first hand experience with a 300XS on this hull? How does it run/handle? Any setup issues that you've encountered? I know the XB21 wasn't really designed to run triple digits......but the 300XS is calling my name.

A guy by the name of Danny B has a 300X on the back and he fishes in the mid to upper 90's. He is in south FL with Lou, Blair, & Jason (1outlaw) and can give you more information as they get together often.

You are going to be suprised what your 225x will do on a 21 PS. It won't be as quick as your 2003 but will be with in 2 or 3 mph on the big end.
    Congrats on your new ride!!!!!!

I want an XR in a BAD way. I was real close to pulling the trigger on one 3 wks ago. Just couldn't figure out where to store a 2nd boat.....

It would huh since he can turn more R's than Red. Na I was reading an old B&WB where they tested a Bassport with a 200xs and a 225X ......hence my speed guess.

    Re: 300XS on a 21 PS (ep72)

Lee is right on with his numbers. My 2+2 Bassport is a solid 86-88 with a full fishing load, one 175 lb. man and one 180 lb. passenger wit a little 225X. Never tried running empty. A 300XS would be interesting Neal. Keep us posted.

BlueAllyxb21, you got any photos of your rig? Great review on the 225X on the 21! Neal may end up being very happy with the combo once he gets all his gauges and graphs and setup done.

It's a 20" mid. I bought it new in 04. Got 190 hrs on it.

    Re: 300XS on a 21 PS (nealxb2003)

    Duane,
I do have some photo's but don't know how to post them here. I can email you some if you like. I don't have an account to host pics right now. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to computers.

    Neal,
I haven't ran to many props. I have an allison cut 27 trophy with extra cup and a 26 FnR from Robbie. I use the FnR for my everyday prop and with Tourney load and two medium size men it will run 86-87 all day. With just me in the boat with the same tourney load I have seen 89.9 GPS but only twice with the temp in the 50's on a fall day I still had some pedal left but was bupping the limiter pretty good and didn't want to push my luck. The FnR has been a very durable prop.

The Trophy is slightly faster with the same load but it cracked after the first year. Also the Trophy was a little long legged, took a little longer to pick the boat up and air it out. Robbie repaired it so I only use it for a spare. I would like to try some other props but I'm to busy working and fishing when the weather will allow. To freakin cold right now though. It was 5 degrees this morning in central KY. That's cold for us.

    Re: 300XS on a 21 PS (BlueallyXB21)

Danny's boat has run 102 multpiple times with a 400hr+ 300x....He "Fish's" so he carries a tackle shop literaly and runs upper 90's all day long running a 30 performer et cut......He usually has Terry in the boat at 300+lbs and still fish's at 95.....Thats where the big block is going to shine, carrying that big load!!!
Cant wait to see those numbers with a 300XS.

    Re: 300XS on a 21 PS (1outlaw)

I have had the 300xs on my 21ps for 2 years now.
    I ran a 225 on it for about a year........Like the 3.2 a lot better.
