    Motor height on BasSport Pro?

    Guys,

How high can I safely run my motor? I have a 250 XS with Sportmaster and I am running a 26 TXP 4 blade. Mine ir right where it was when I bought it. Depending on where you measure it it is even to maybe 1/2" above pad. The boat never shoots a rooster tail and all of my batteries are in the back deck. I run every prop I have tried with the hydraulic plate all the way up. On my last boat (200XL stratos) I had to run the txp much higher than the trophy. Is my boat slower than everybody elses because I have the motor too low? Mine runs 82-83 in the summer and 85-86 when its cold and dry and I'm in TN at around 600 ft elevation. Can I go up one hole without turning her into a hooker?

about 25 psi I believe. I have plenty of pressure. I just know my boat is slower than what everybody else claims theirs is. I just don't want to make it dangerous.

Then you'll have to leave it on the trailer or run it around 60 mph tops.
True for any boat, I couldn't resist, sorry!!!

What I have found is when you're running flat out with a little positive trim, when your water psi gauge starts dropping below 20, tap it down one time to maintain 20 psi and you're pretty much there. You can run as low as 15 psi but what I've seen is once you get up that high the water psi will not maintain a steady pressure.
The best advice I can give for safety is this, when you get ready to slow down, instead of dropping the trim drop the jackplate & leave the trim alone. This puts the lower unit back in the water instead of lifting it further out due to the bow dropping down. Also lower the jackplate for boat wakes and choppy water along with setting your trim angle for the conditions. I use the jackplate more than the trim on the 21's. The higher you run the plate the less trim you need so be ready to lower the trim as needed as you raise the jackplate. I'm not going to tell you to raise your engine, but I would if it was mine.
