Can I find out from somewhere what the latest software is for my motors? Seems like my mechainc has updated me twice with new maps, and I havent heard anyhting from BRP??
I have 2007 200 V6, serial # 5148755. Thanks.

Software updates are NOT recalls or required servicing. If there is something important, BRP will send a letter to registered owners. At the moment there is only one letter sent out concerning owners of the small block 2007 V-6 engines.
Your technician has to read the software revision number stored inside your motor's EMM using a laptop or a PDA, then you can post the number here and we can tell you if it is the latest one.
We also need the complete model number from the serial number tag to look up the software for you.

Thanks for the info, I did not know that. I did receive that one letter.
I have software version: 3030379; software revision:89909; Model: E200DCXDCXSUF.
Is that the info you needed??
Sorry for all the maps but some have to be EPA approved which takes time. There are more maps in the works, I believe. If the map change is important you will get notified by BRP or your dealer. The changes in the fuel sparked the map changes at least that is what I believe. There have been a very minor amount of hard starting or low speed issues seen due to the fuel & the map changes have addressed them.
The other choice is to pump alot more fuel in like the old days. That a joke. You know carbs.
Yes That info. is what is needed.

Enhanced fuel and oil management.
Improved engine run quality at IDLE and throughout the entire RPM range.
Thanks.
Can you tell me what is the best way to diagnose an oiling issue? I have twin 200's and one of my oil tanks is ~1/2 full, while the other one is nearly empty? Either one engine is over-oiling, or the other is not using enough. No alarms, so not sure what the problem is yet?
Is one engine still in break in mode & the other is out? (no, see below)
Is the other engine a R suffix engine. E200D?XSUR? (no, see below)
Are Both Engines Running the Same Map. (yes, see below)
You may have a hyper sensitive oil pressure sender. You are more than likely not under oiling because the EMM is tracking it with the oil pressure sender.
You may be over oiling though. If the EMM does not sense the desired oil pulse pressure spikes the EMM will cycle and count for missed pulses. If the EMM sees what it is looking for there will be no codes set or no warning because the system is functioning properly. The result will be higher oil use with no warning. If the EMM does NOT see what it is looking for then the warning will sound and a code will be set.
Are you smoking? If so advise your dealer of the smoke & higher oil use. BRP Tech will let them know what they want them to do.
If your not smoking then run it and track the oil use for another tank of oil. Hotter weather could cause a hyper sensitive oil presure sendor to not give the desired pressure reading.

One other thing that will affect the oil consumption is the engine temperature. If one motor is not running as warm as the other, it will consume more oil.
The technician should print out the EMM report and compare the temperature graph of each engine.
For a quick rule of thumb on the E-TECs, from the report total up the % of time below 2000 rpm and total the % of time the engine temp graph shows 140° and higher, they should be close to the same. You want to see around 150° at idle. If a majority of the temps are 130° or less, the motor needs its thermostats and pressure relief valve inspected.

Thanks again for the info.
I wouldn't think the other engine is still in break in mode- I have ~34 hours on them by now? Is it easy to tell if it is??
Yes, the other engine is SUR. What is the significance of that??
AquaMarineNJ (5:05 PM 9/19/2006): sur & suf engines run different maps therefore they may run different oil programming.
Yes, I do believe they are running the same Map, but i will need to double check that with my mechanic.
I've been trying to figure out oil usage vs gas usage- I believe I've gone through ~200 gallons of gas, so if my starboard enigne has used ~3 gal oil, its ~66:1 while my port engine has used 4 gal oil, so its ~50:1. I don't know how "close" they're supposed to run. I have had no alarms, no codes regarding oil on either engine, and no, no smoking.
I will continue to keep track of my oil usage, thanks. Just out of curiosity, am I to expect equal oil usage for both? Or does that only occur in utopia..?
Thanks again for your help.
Cheers,
Ted

Thanks Seahorse.
I'll ask him to print out the report, and ask him how hot they've been running.
