    Went out today!!!

Although i have had my Allison for several weeks now i just got a chance to take it out today for the first time today. I had to keep the RPMs down because of the motor breakin. And more importantly and unexperienced Allison driver. I should have bought one of these rigs WAY back. I have had and fished with guys that had just about every brand of boat on the market. I have NEVER rode in a smoother riding boat on a lake with 2 foot chops at 77 MPH before in my life!!!!! All i heard when i bought the rig was guys saying how rough they rode. Now its amazing how folks know so much about something they never rode in. One of the guys that fishes with us has a Champion and when i got back to the launch today had just put his boat on the trailer so i asked him if he wanted to take a ride. He couldnt believe how smooth the Allison took the chops. BTW i know where someone can get a heck of a good deal on a Champion!!! He said he would have an Allison soon . Its amazing that you can be running 75 MPH punch it and not be able to get to the bottom of the hot foot. I still got a lot of seat time but im very happy with the progress for really the first time to run one. Some of the stories i read on here made me feel i may not be able to get the hang of driving it. But all i can say is i hated to see it get dark today i was having a blast. Any advice i'll be gald to take it. Im running a 27 TXP and i was pleased with the way it handled.

Re: Went out today!!! (Red XB03)

Right on man, I have never rode in a 03 but was just as impressed with my 02

I bet a Lightnin ET would be a good prop on that rig, Lee would be the one to know for sure

Who built your motor and what has been done to it? Factory limiter?

    Re: Went out today!!! (20xdBake)

I bought if from a guy in south AL and i cant remember who done the work. The limiter is GONE and the port timing was raised a tad with some work on the tuner and exhaust also. Im amazed at the response when your running 75 mph and punch it. Its unbelievable but its probably just a rookie not use to it LOL

Re: Went out today!!! (Red XB03)

Well call me a rookie Mr. Randall. I've had my xb02 for 3 years now and I hate to put it on the trailer at the end of the day. It is a blast to drive.

What rpms did you turn the txp to?

    Re: Went out today!!! (jaybluez)

I only got to around 5400 that i can remember seeing. i may have got more but i was trying to keep down cause of the motor needing some time on it first. I drove one with a trophy and to me there no comparison to the TXP. It drives a lot more free if that makes any sence.

Yes it a 4 blade 27 TXP. Thinkin about closing some of the vent holes to see if it can grab more coming out of the hole.

Glad you like her bro. After you get the hang of the 225 ...you can run my 280. Then there will be a nice promax with very low hrs for sale.

Re: Went out today!!! (Red XB03)

If you were able to drive it at 77mph, I'd say you got it down. The XB2003 is the hardest to drive between 70-80mph. The faster you go, the boat will take better set. I also fish with a 4-blade txp. But mine is a 24. I think the 27 may be too much for that motor. These props are very stiff and typically run a pitch or two more than stamped on the prop.
