    Tempest Prop

I have a 25 pitch merc tempest left over from my procraft. I am looking for a good fishing prop and thought what the heck I'll run it. I liked it other than the fact that I can turn it to 7000 rpm 80 mph gps. I have a 2003 with a 91 200 carb. running a 200 lower with a bobs cone around a 1/4 inch below the pad. Has anyone tried a 26 pitch? I was thinking of sending it off to have it worked an see if it can be changed to a 26 and get the rpms around 6500. It had plenty of lift and handled fine just turn to many R's.

Ken, for each pitch increase you will only lose 200rpm.. I would think ya need a worked 27.. Louis

I talked with Bill the other day at the factory. It seems that 26 pitch is a good all a round prop to run. I have a 28 hydromotive on my allison with a 200 merc. the 28 is not a great hole shot prop with a load for me.

A 26 Trophy or a 28 3-blade ET is what we always ran with the 200's, 82-84 mph.

    Re: Tempest Prop (Props4u2)

I've got a 26 pitch ET 85 mph gps at 6600 rpm. I don't want to crack the blades. Running it with a fishing load will crack it, its been worked. I have this prop (Tempest) and was wondering if it could be worked to 26 or 27 to get the r's down. It has a awesome hole shot and lift and drives great. Just needs to be bigger. I was trying to avoid buying another one.

You're better off to try to trade it for a 26 or 27, the pitch can't really be changed on a ss prop as some shops claim, the cup can be changed along with the leading edge rolled or flattened out some but it's not nearly as effecient as a pitch change in most cases.

If anyone's interested I got a 25 Tempest in good condition for trade for a 27.
