    Kids ATV

Got a question for anyone that might know. I was outside this afternoon and my kids were outside riding their atv's my son got highcenter on the field next to us and was just gunning it finally got him to stop and shut it down. Started it up no problem and he got back on but when he hit the throttle it stuck wide open now this is only a chineese 110cc four stroke and it was throttled down but it can get going pretty quick. Luckly I was right next to him and knocked him off and pushed it over until I could shut it down. How would this happen? I looked and the only thing I could see was that there was something that can undone on the carb that was a spring with a cap could this have done it? I don't want this to happen again and it scared the hell out of me because my son is only four and he could have been really hurt if I wasn't close by. Thanks Mike

Probably has a bent linkage or return spring broke / missing.

Doubt that quad is rated for a 4 yr old. Please say he has all the right gear, and the gear cost more than the quad.

Yeah i know but when you throttle down it will hardly move. It's been through one kid and now my son is learning on it. Never had a problem before but all it takes is one!

Bring it down to Jackson and I'll take a look at it some weekend. Possibly I can make you a throttle stop for it, limiting throttle open range. I made one for a 50cc Honda motorcycle when I bought it for our niece years ago.

Nothing wrong with that if you teach them right and buy them the right safty gear. I was racing 3 wheelers when i was 6 years old.
