Now I've got a Gun dilemma

I went out hare hunting today and brought my Circuit Judge....first day using my Millett red dot scope in the field and it broke I decided to go get a decent unit, went over to the local general store to see what they had over there before I ordered something online and they had a nice Trijicon Reflex sight so I bought it but now I've got a dilemma ....I hate to waste it on a cheap .410 shotgun when I've got so many other rifles it could go on and I could scavenge their scopes/red dots for my .410.

Has anybody ever put one of the Trijicon reflex sights on a high recoil rifle? It would be mighty purty on my 444 Marlin Encore

I'd say that .444 would be a brush buster for sure with that red-dot on it

I'm sure it would be killer with a red dot I'm just not sure the red dot would be up to the challenge. I think most folks just put them on an AR which doesn't recoil much. I hate to be the guinea pig to find out if it will take it and then find out it doesn't.

I went from an Eotech to a Reflex on an AR-15 and the Reflex was hands down better IMO. I know that doesn't help with the recoil question, but you made a good choice, enjoy!

Millett sights are junk. Do a bit of reading on the forums and you'll find many experiences similar to yours.

Trijicon makes good stuff, but their RMR sight might be a bit overkill for your application. Burris makes their Fastfire series of red dots that are very high quality, and are more modestly priced when compared to the Trijicon RMR.

I have a Burris Fastfire II on my AR-15 and it's been absolutely trouble free. Burris just released their Fastfire III which is an improvement on the II model. They retail for about $200 to $250 depending on your mounting option and model.

BTW, the Fastfire series of sights are designed to be slide mounted on pistols. If they can withstand those recoil forces, standing up to a .444 Marlin won't be any problem at all.

I've finally been able to use the Trijicon Reflex a bit now and I've got to say it was a waste of money for me. The sight itself is good in the fact that it doesn't take batteries and it feels like it's built like a tank. The reason I don't like it is it has a polarizing type lens coating on it that makes it impossible to see orange...take a guess at what color all my targets are.

Never thought of that..........when I was toting one every day my targets definitely weren't orange....
