    99 225 Ficth No Alarm

My 225 gives no alarm at any time does not beep when key on or when oil tank low I have checked these 2. I have tried new horn new 4 LED engine monitor and chased wire all through this thing. Can anyone tell me does this come from the ECM/ECU/EMM?????????????????????? Thanks

The System Check Gauge Generates the BEEP when the key is turned on. I read the "new horn new 4 LED engine monitor" statment but the gauge does generate the horn signal. The ECU does give input/ground to the System Check Gauge for 3 of the lights, the oil tank sendor does the fourth & the gauge self test lights the lights at key on.

    hope this helps.

You might want to make sure the 8-pin connector in the back of the gauge is fully seated and "latched" into place. Make sure there is a bit of dialectric (silicone) grease on the rubber seal to lubricate it. You can also check continuity of the wires, especially on #8 (tan/blue) and that voltage is at the purple wire with the key ON at the "horn" connection.

here's the pin configuration (looking at the back-side of the gauge, holding it upright):

    1-2-3-4
    8-7-6-5

Purple wire goes to pin 1- 12V
Black wire goes to pin 2- grnd
Gray wire goes to pin 3 - tach

Grounding these pins, will activate the following:

Pin 4, turn on no oil lite - tan/yellow
Pin 5, turn on low oil lite - tan/black
Pin 7, turn on check engine lite - tan/orange
Pin 6, turn on hot lite - tan

Pin 8, is used to activate the warning horn, it supplies a ground to the horn circuit when any other warning circuit (pins 4 thru 7) is grounded - tan/blue wire

Make sure all the grounds on the engine are clean and tight. The engine is using a ground to do everything here, corrosion or loose connections will keep you chasing for days. If it is the original guage, probably time for a new one. Micro circutry can only go so long in the wet environment. The sun beating down on it for 5-6 years doesn't help either.
