2003 175 fitch no oil buzzer

I have a 03 175 fitch that has had a very eractic problem with the no oil warning buzzer. It has came on right after i come up on plane so i immediatly shut down.As soon as i restart the motor the warning buzzer goes off and may not come on again for 20 hours or so. The oil tank is completly full when this happens and the primer ball is always hard.I know this could be caused by multiple things just looking for a place to start.Motor has about 165 hrs with no other problems This problem has bin ongoing for quit some time. Thanks Mike.

I had a similar problem on a '94 Merc. Turned out to be a short between 2 pins in the connector for the warning circuit under the cowl. I guess I'm trying to say it could be serious or it could be minor (like mine). Either way, best to get a service guy to look at it. Good luck!

If it is the same configuration as a 1999 225 ficht the no oil/low oil sencer has 1 wire comming off it and if it is corroded where it connects it can go to ground and give the warning. Disconect and clean the wire and where it connects. Good luck.

    (1) Check the oil injector pressure switch connector. (oil in connector? yes then change pressure switch)
    (2) Oil Lift Pump Output Test (with clear line installed in adapter to check for air)
    (3) Oil Lift Pump Pulse Hoses (pressure or vacuum test pulse hoses to check diaphragms)
    (4) Check oil lift pump potention (by crimping off return, it should go up to at least 50-60 rather quickly)

These tests are rather easy for a BRP tech to do. if your lift pump is marginal or your pressure switch is having an issue then that could be why the warning goes off so many hours apart.

We do oil lift pump tests on the tow motors annually.

There have been other issues but start here.

The newer oil pressure switchs should have a white dot on them.
