There are more here that know lots more than me but I have a 94 200zx and I would wonder if that's the original motor , that said I feel it's a good solid boat , heavy and will never do 70 but it's nice having big gas tanks to feed the 2 strokes lol , lots of storage and room too pm me if you want to know any other stuff

Yup you had a 96 smaller boat,,, the 94 was 20'2" the later zx went down to 19'6 I think

I think as soon as Yamaha bought it , they made a slightly smaller boat

Either way, itll still do 70 if its right with a merc. My javelin wouldnt think about 70 either with a venom on it. Now with a merc,it passes that easily.lol

ok you said a lot there ,,,the early 90's had venoms although solid engines you aint getting 70's from them, I got 1 and no maintainance per se so who needs 70 mph,,,,honestly I don't know what skeeter offered but I think jonhnson was the early 90's engine,,,if ya wannna make an arguement go right ahead

ZX 200 will never break 70mph with a 200hp motor. Doesn't matter who makes the motor. Will never happen. Owned a 96 ZX190 with a Merc 150 and never broke 60 mph not matter what prop or setup. Brother owns a ZX195 with 200 Yamaha and never broke 70mph. I now own a ZX250 with Yamaha 250 HPDI and my average speed is 70-74 mgh (GPS)

Not making arguments, just stating facts.lol. If a 94 is a hair bigger than a 96 then it is. I'm not arguing that. MY zx did 74 many times with a 200 merc is all I was saying.now with a venom,it ain't gonna happen. At least not with the one I had.lol

I have a new 2013 ZX 200 with a 200 SHO and I can only get 66 mph @ 5400 RPM with me in it and a full tank of fuel. I sure hope it will gain a little more speed as it breaks in. I am running the factory 25 prop. 12" jackplate.
