I have hard back books, magazines, videos and dvds, and I don't know if any of them have really helped any. To me, nothing better then what I've learned from my time on the water.

It's not a "How To" book, but there's a book that came out in the late 80's or early 90's called Bass Wars. I forget the author, but it's a really interesting read. It's about a season on the BASS trail comparing Rick Clunn, an established pro with some up and coming pros. It shows how hard it is for a rookie to get established.

This is a new book that's decent. Not great but gets the job done when nature calls. Ike's fishing on the edge, and Bass Wars is pretty good to get a look into the pro fishing life.

KVD's book is pretty standard too and if you watch a lot of fishing shows you've pretty much already read that book then.

Bill Siemantals Big Bass Zone is a very good read, I would recommend that book to everyone.

Ike's book is pretty good. Give you some insight on how he thinks.

Ikes book is definitely a good one. I want to get the newly revised KVD book too. I hate reading but fishing books keep my attention.

Bass Wars and Diary of a Bass Pro are my favorites. Written in the 80's or early 90's, but great reads. Nick Taylor wrote Bass Wars.

There's a new one out by the Berkely guy, Dr. Keith Jones that looks at bass fishing from a scientific perspective. My wife, er actually Santa, brought it to me this Christmas. I think it's pretty good if you like that sort of angle.

There is one -- it's older -- by Dr. Underwood titled Lunker. Underwood spent hours underwater filming and studing movements of the bass.

I agree completely. This was the best Bass book I've ever read. You must be ready to give up some beliefs that many bass fishermen still have when you read this book. It's still available as a used book from Amazon and other booksellers. It was published in 1975 I think. Bob A. Underwood, available in hard and soft cover.

Re: bass fishing books? (jbt083)

I think you learn more by watching it on a DVD, but i have 2 books on bass fishing.

First is Bassn' with the best, It has KVD on the front, when he was like age 23, holding a huge 12+ lb bass, and bill Sementel Big bass zone, which talks about using Swim baits.

I Also have the complete in fisherman collection on all bass topics, and some other bass pro DVD's i have watched probably 10 times now, and i contribute alot of what i read/see on these DVD's to my success out on the water, they undoubtedly help me alot in being able to catch fish in any body of water.

one sec ill type em all in, *walks over to DVD case*

all in-fisherman titles

fine tuning hot tactics for large mouths
hard bait bass crank bait strategies
large mouth bass biology
large mouth bass lure logic
bass "The weed factor"
precision bass jigging
Bass location secrets

The bass pros

Season one 2007
Season Two (at friends house, forgot he had it lol)
Season three 2009
Season four 2010

The Bass Pro's

Kevin van damn 3 DVD set: Proven spinner bait techniques/pitch'n to heavy hitters/ stag. for changing conditions

Woo Daves 3 DVD set: Wormin' with Woo/ Bustin' Bronze backs!/ Inland rivers

Stacey King 3 DVD set: jerk bait fishing/ The carolina Rig/ Bassin' Blowups!

Advanced Finesse Bass Strategies (w/ Mike Iaconelli )

to all the above DVD;s i would highly suggest them to anyone who loves to bass fish, and its a great gift idea.

If you can find a copy of "Them Old Brownfish" by Billy Westmoreland is a decent read.
