    Help with batteries

I have been doing my research for a while now and this is what I have came up with. 3 cabelas AGM 30, and 1 PM-1 Diehard Platinum. My problem is that the nearest Cabelas is in Mo. and well over 400 miles away. I work overseas and my batteries can sit for 6 months at a time, so I have to have a AGM battery. I dont want 4 of the PM-1 because of weight and cost. Is there another AGM that has the same reserve capacity of the Cabelas that might be closer to me? I am in the Huntsville area so they would need to be close to me for exchange and warranty. Thanks in advance guys

All AGM's are heavier per size than other lead acid batts. The bigger the better.. Pick your poison.

Check out the new Duracell AGMs by Deka they sell at Sam's Club.

mike, there is almost 13 pounds difference between the cabelas and the die hards so all AGM's do not weigh the same...Times that by 4 and it adds up quick

Steve, thanks much. That was the kind of response I was looking for

Have you considered OPTIMA batteries? The 31 group weighs only 63#.

Luigi, yes I have checked the optimas since that was what I was wanting. BUT their reserve is only 155 on the 31's The ones I am looking at are 205 so that is a huge difference in reserve mins

You can check out Deka Sea Mate AGM batteries if you like model # 8A31DTM, very good batteries, but the Dekas will probally be a little more money than the Cabelas, especially if the Cabelas are on sale. I really think the batteries you have orginally picked will suit your needs very well.

If you are looking at Cabelas AGMs the 24s and 27s are literally the same battery specs wise with the 24 being in a smaller box and costing $20.00 less per battery. I bought 4 and so far and I am really impressed. Fished them hard all day in some serious wind and they still were running strong. Bigger specs is better but you do not have to buy the biggest battery in physical size as a blanket statement. Some smaller sizes have better specs and a little research will be in order. I know I saved almost 10lbs per battery over what was in my boat previously plus the ones I replaced had lower specs than my Cabelas AGMs.
