    The Big E's Final Departure

I was out fishing yesterday on my jet ski (report to follow) and was privileged to see the USS Enterprise depart the Norfolk harbor. I was at the Chesapeake Bay bridge tunnel around the first island when it passed through out to the Atlantic. There were plenty of people on the island and pier to see her off. The ship is the longest and first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier and even at over fifty years old still quite a sight to see. I was glad I was on the water to see her leave on what will be the final 6 month deployment before being retired.
Here are some pictures I took today, they do not do it justice.

Talk about irony! There you are, taking pics of this "incredible hulk" and the guy in the chopper is taking one of your ride. He's probably been everywhere on that carrier yet wishes he could be on your ski...awesome pics!

Next time out, could you get some pics of that meteor that's supposed to do a fly by of earth? Yeah, I know it's like 17,000 miles away at it's closest point, but hey...we all saw your moon shots!

I wouldn't put it past you...

Great pictures. Gives you a real perspective of the size of that thing with the sailors on the upper deck. May the mighty Enterprise "Rust in Peace"upon her retirement.

Damn I ways going to say the same thing, if you look there more on the ship taking pictures of Brian. I also see the other in the chopper is not looking at him with a camera.

My worst fear is that my wife will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it.
