    Stratos 201 Pro XL questions

    Hi all,
I have a 2005 201 ProXL with an 05 225 Evinrude DI. I have a couple questions about props, and trailer parts.

My trailer was apparently in an accident at some point before I purchased it. About 2 years ago the paint on the fender started to chip and rust. I was wondering if someone could give me advice on what to do to make it look less ugly. I was thinking about purchasing fenders from candomarine or perhaps elsewhere.

I beat up my prop pretty good a few years back. I have lost a little on the top end but all and all not too bad. I was wondering if anyone had the similar setup and what prop they would recommend. Here is what I currently have.
    Thanks!

You can take the fender off (4 bolts/buts) and have it sandblasted and repainted. Mine is doing the same thing. I am going to be placing carbon fiber over the metal after I paint, however.

Yeah you can pull them off sand blast and paint or you could replace them with stainless steel fenders.
Not real sure what to tell you on the prop, I am running a 250 with the M2 LU.

That prop looks good. Has it been rebuilt? Who did it?

Is it just the pic or is one of the blades on the prop bent all to hell?

Funny, I didn't notice that it was that bad until I read your post and looked at the picture again. It does seem off doesn't it? I thought it was just chipped and bent on the edge which I banged back into place. Think that could be the cause of the loss of MPH?

Thanks for the info. Did you put the prop on yourself? what about the jackplate?

Thanks for the info! Do you know if that particular prop is worth fixing? or would my money be better spent buying a different brand/model?

The Raker 2 is built by Michigan wheel the rake on the blades is a more progressive rake than the original Raker. The material is a bit softer. It was designed to be run on the E-tecs. The original Raker was designed to run on the Carb motors and to compete with the Tempest line. The Raker has a pressed in hub the Raker 2 has a torque-flo hub.

When I bought the boat in 2005 in had a 2004 evinride 225. And the best prop we could find at that time was the 27 tempest. I bought the etec in 2008 and we tried 5 or 6 other props and the 27 tempest still gave me the best overall performance so I just stuck with it.

Yep with my old 201 pro .The Tempest plus is the fast to date with my Merc 2.5 200 HP motor . I have been running a bravo1 last fall and this winter . Its a 2-3 mph slower and its a littler hard to trun than the tempest on the frist of the hole shoot . But after it get to wind up it jumps out of the hole . I had Mark fix a Tempest A-45 this winter for me . They say there are faster than the Tempest plus ,as they have thinner bladles , but have not ran to see yet .

Also the Tempest props have a lot of bow lift ,as these 201's need to get the bow up for speed .
