Power Pole project with 3/4" heat shrink ....

The spikes on my Power Poles being white made them prone to stain from the mud/red clay they get deployed. Never could really keep them as clean as I wanted so i figured just use the 3/4" heat shrink to cover them. I just covered the white replaceable spike just below the area where they screw in. Looks a LOT better and I like the blacked out look more. Best thing is it was less than $10 to do both spikes. I just used my heat gun to shrink the tubing. They had a ton of colors for anyone wanting to try and match boat color.

    Great Idea.
Where did you get your heat shrink tubing from?

TNT turned me onto Fry's Electronics having it in 4' sections. i think they are national if not they have a website you can order on I think. It is around $3.00 a section and the spikes are 36" so you will have to cut to fit. The 3/4" fits snugly around the spike before heating. I took a lot of time to do the bottom near the tip extra good to have no issues with peeling. Best thing is even if you mess it up over time just cut it off and replace. I have seen some black spikes but not up close. Not sure if they are covered or are actually black but this turned out better than expected.

I ordered some from Harbour Freight and the 3/4" would not go on mine, I had to use 1" but it still turned out good.

The bottom foot of that(shrink tubing) will get chewed up fairly quick and you will have to cut the damaged part off. It does look good though vs the white.
