Okay so one of the guys that I do business with locally called me this past Wednesday and asked me if I would be interested in going to a fundraising dinner with him locally. I have been quite busy at work lately getting ready for a visit from some of the higher up people in our company so initially I declined. About then he informed me that the main speaker of the evening was going to be Rocky Bleier of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Given that I grew up watching the Steelers of the 70’s and have always been a Steelers fan I immediately changed my mind. Not to mention the fact that his story of being injured in Vietnam is a amazing story. I am THRILLED that I made this decision as it was an evening that I remember forever. When my son found out who I was going to see he asked me to take his terrible towel and get it signed for him. Initially I thought to myself “I do not have a chance in the world of getting him to sign it however I took the towel anyway. After waiting patiently for about 20 minutes trying very hard to not be like most of the others there and seem like this man owed me something I managed to get my chance.. I asked him “Mr. Bleier I do not want to take up to much of your time but could you please sign this towel for my son” He seemed very happy that I did not want to talk forever and very happily signed the towel personalized to my son. The moron behind me kept pulling on his jacket saying “Rocky this lady is next….. She is next.. Do not forget that she is next” You could tell that this annoyed him. Well after he signed the towel I asked him “Sir would it be too much trouble to get a picture as I had seen him take many pictures up to this point” (once again the guy behind me tugging on his coat.. “sally is next” ) Any way it was at this time that he did something that I had not seen him do with any of the others that he took pictures with (I am sure that he did with others however I did not notice before or after) any way he told me to hold my hand up and that is when he slid all 4 of his rings onto my hand.. Definitely one of the most memorable days to this point in my life..
Sorry for the rambling and I am sure that the grammar police will have a lot of fun with this post but as I said it was definitely an evening that I will never forget.
The guy over MY left shoulder in the tux is the idiot tugging on his coat.. (hope that he is not on here)![]()
