Here's the Northern version of what some Southern folks are dealing with. While the South was getting hit with tornadoes, my area got anywhere from 12-18 inches of snow starting Friday night and into Saturday morning.
The snowfall was extremely wet and heavy which coated power lines and brought down trees. We lost power from 2am on Saturday and just got it back around 11:30 PM on Sunday. If the loss of power wasn't enough, the temps dropped last night to -15 degrees.
Many of my neighbors went to shelters while the pipes in their homes froze. This was a quick test of my disaster preparation. My generator worked perfectly although I underestimated the amount of fuel it burns in a 24 hour period. I will certainly have more fuel on hand for the next time this happens.
The storm is past now, and blue skies have returned. It's still only 2 degrees outside, but it sure is neat looking.
