I run good oil and keep it decarbed and hope for the best.
I do have a sticky starter solinoid that pisses me off sometimes.
Not sure of the hrs, but they're fairly low, 200-300.

Must be a coincidence I just found this site. My 1999 'Rude 175 FICHT just "blew up" on Lake Ontario last week while salmon fishing...no warning. After 400 hours and five faithful years with nothing going wrong they want close to $6K to rebuild the head with only a 60-day warranty. Or I can move to E-Tec with minimal trade-in allowance. I am wary of what lies ahead if I repair and keep this unit, despite its past performance.
what are they offering on trade if you don't mind me asking? what cylinder wen't down?
I have been to two marinas (both competent) dealing in big water boats. Will offer maximum $2K Cdn for lower unit and other parts if not fixed or about $7K if fixed. Then they will sell for between $8 and $9K I'm told. Unless I am going to keep this unit and take my chances, seems to me the best plan is not to fix it and get whatever I can, then plan on spending another $15-$17K on a replacement motor I feel I can trust for the foreseeable future.
No. 3 cylinder - the middle on the right side looking from the back of the unit. It also damaged the one below it - No. 1 I believe they called it.
2003........59 hours.................and I hope many more troublefree hours to come.....![]()

03 92 hours a few minor glitches. Still loving it!!!
99 FICHT 200 with 2000 powerhead.
Blown up twice.
First time 16 minutes into break in second time 346 hours-no warning total melt down.
Will not be repairing it this time.
I had a 1999 200 ficht. I ran it for 5 years without a problem. Great motor. I sold it and it blew within a year...go figure![]()
2000 Evinrude 115 with 323 hour. First year throttle control sensor went (covered under warranty). Last year an anti-siphon valve stuck on the motor end. Disassembled lots of fuel components found the problem (looks like a golf tee) broke it off and everything has been fine since.
so far i haven't seen anything over 400 come on guys got to be some with higher hours if not mine may be on it's last leg.![]()

99 150 Ficht...last time I checked (2years ago) had 288hrs...so I should be around 400 or more. Only time motor has been hooked up to computer was at the 10hr check up and 2 years ago I had some trim issues (plug at power distribution panel) had the mechanic to check the hours while it was in the shop. I did have a mysterious miss that came and went but all is fine now![]()

Twin 01 250s 675hrs each 1 ecm two lower units I wonder how many more hours are in them. They aren't worth anything on trade so I will run them until they blow or leave me stranded.I hate to see what it will cost to replace twins now.
My Ficht 225 died permanently after 3 rebuilds and approx. 170 hours before I gave up on it...What a joke, pain and suffering, etc...

My 03 H.O. had 103 hours on it about 2 months ago. I had put over 50 hours on it in 3 months.I'd guess 130 to 140 hours now. I use it a lot. So far only problem has been 1 lower unit to go out. It went out on a Thursday evening and C&O had me going the next day.

One of my tourney partners has a 2000 Ficht that has probly around 600 hours on it now if you added them all up between 3 powerheads. Its had a lot of problems and been through more lower units than I can remember. The newer fichts seem to have a lot fewer problems than the older models.
2000 200hp Ficht - 450hrs..... 1st powerhead at 96 hrs and 2nd powerhead right now at 450hrs. I'm on my 3rd lower unit as well. This motor is for sale as is or to be parted out. It's been too frustrating.
1998 150 FICHT has the pinned heads and updated ECM 676 hours and still going.
Using XD-50 oil and changed the lower unit at about 470 hours after it hit some floating debris in Pensacola Bay after Hurricane Ivan.
Sticky starter motor that works after a 30-40 minute cool down, other than that I have been very pleased.
Starts first click when cold, so I leave it alone.
Mainly 80-100 mile round trip runs out into the Gulf of Mexico for diving trips, tops out at 43mph on GPS on a 1998 21ft Bayliner Trophy WAC.
Although, if it does have a major mechanical I will not rebuild it, just donate it to charity, take the tax break and buy another boat.
