    Cub Cadet Riding Mower

Looking at going tomorrow and buying this mower. I have about an acre to cut. The mower is 42in cut, 18HP Briggs engine, looks like it has never been used. Price is $600 firm. I'd say this is a good deal. What do you guys think?
    This is the mower below:

That's about 900.00 off of new. I think I would have already picked it up.

If everything works for 600.00 I'd take a trailer or a way to load it in the truck.

    not knocking it but.....you asked...

I have one identical and I wouldnt give 100 for it....it has killed 3 batteries in 18 months...plugs have to be pulled regularly....and it just cost me about 250 bucks to rebuild the deck.

I would NEVER buy another cub cadet

I've got a cub cadet zero turn. That thing's built like a tank! The deck is made out of 1/4" welded steel.

Re: Cub Cadet Riding Mower (JoeTrooper)

I have what looks to be the exact mower. I bought it in the spring of 2004.

I have changed the oil once.
    plugs once
    air filter once
    oil filter once
    blades once
    battery twice
    everything else is original

We have long summers and I usually mow at least once a week.
    Mine has been very good.

Re: Cub Cadet Riding Mower (hse87)

Bought one from tractor supply n 2004. Liked 2 eat those extra long drive belts on the shaft drive. Had to replace diodes twice, bearings went out of the elect clutch. They traded with me 4 another one and I should hav took the money and left. Guess I learn the hard way.

Re: Cub Cadet Riding Mower (wareagle24)

That's a deal only if its got a Kohler engine in it....I wouldn't give $100 for one with a briggs or stratton in it....I've had my Cub since 2006 with only one spindle issue, and a few belts. It has the exact same engine in it as the 20 horse Walkers I used to run when I cut grass...should have never sold my last one of those but oh well...

I also bought a Cub Cadet zero turn mower. A Enforcer 44. Lots of folks here told me it was junk to stay away. So far so good, I havent had any of the problems I was told I would have. Good luck with your choice.

Re: Cub Cadet Riding Mower (mrlawler1)

Mrlawler is spot on.. stay away from the Briggs motors. Find one with either the Kohler or the Kawasaki motor and you are golden. Get the Briggs and you'll be replacing the mower in 2 years.
