    There's Always Something

Seems like there's always something whenever I need to do a big job on my car that needs to be replaced but I don't have it on hand. My VW Jetta has 190K on it and the Maine roads have been beating my suspension to death and in turn me too. I decided to go ahead and change all the struts, shocks, springs, and mounts to get the car back up to stock height since the previous owner had lowered the car. So I get everything torn apart to replace the strut on one side and finish changing the strut/spring/mount in pretty good time, then I pull the other strut out of the box and see a sheet of paper under that one....it showed a picture of a strut stop....the bad part was that Bilsteins don't use bump stops. I can tell you how many local parts stores have VW Jetta bump stocks in stock....a big fat 0

So now I ordered new bump stops and once they arrive I can put the side I have torn apart together...then I get to do the original side again. Why is there always something to make every job suck?

My MIL and BIL both have VW's. I have done some maintenance on them here and there to help her save money and because he knows less about a tool box than my Chihuahua. I like some of the differences, but I have always told them that I can only do light maintenance because I'm sure I don't have the tools, and I doubt any parts stores have the parts to delve any deeper.

I know what you mean, I have three washing machines that need transmissions. I called my distributor because they are under warranty to get what I need. I was told they would send everything I need to change them out. Tore the first one down and discovered they didn't send everything I needed. Seems I need a special sealant for the new seals and it wasn't included and it isn't available locally.

I bought a HB998 which came with a 6' power cord that is supposed to go directly to the battery. Do you know any boats that is only 6' from the console to the cranking battery? Had to go out and buy more wire to get it installed. Made 3 trips to different electrical stores before I found the right wire.

Try replacing a shower faucet, WOW the crap you need to do that. Sometimes I often think it's better to just pay someone rather than making a dozen trips and hopeing you have everything.
Sometimes I need my ATV when in my boat and sometimes I need my boat while riding my ATV.
