    buying a noncurrent motor question

I am trying to find a Merc 150 optimax. I know guys that have saved a good deal of money buying two year old motors that have never been registered. Any one know any dealers with left over stock? Thanks, Dick

It is a bit different now than it used to be. The engines now do not really have year models but they do have build dates. Even though an engine may be 2 years old if you bought it today it could be sold as a 2012. This helps dealers to not have any/many non current engines.
Most dealers do not stock up on engines like they did a few years ago either.

Keep in mind, buy a motor get a motor. If ya want controls too, you gotta buy em.

Unless a dealer buys his stock outright he probably has more money tied up in an old motor than a newer one with his finance charges.
