I am currently taking Uloric for my gout but $200 for 30 pills is getting unaffordable. I am thinking of asking my doc to switch me to allopurinol. Are any of you guys on this and do you have any problems with it? Thanks

Allpurinol caused me more problems then it solved. I'm on colchcine and probenicid. And have not had any attacts. I was having attacts about 3 times a year. Good luck. Oh colchcine is no longer available as a gerenac so I have to get it in Canada. Here it is about $140 per month, from Canada it cost me $47.00

Have you tried celery seed tea and knudsens black cherry juice ? This combo works for my dad and brother. I am sure you could google up some info.
I took allopurinol for several years and had good results. It kept the uric acid levels down but I still had an occasional flare up that I could control with indomethacin. I quit taking everything about a year and a half ago and have had no problems. My uric acid levels have gradually decreased on their own which appears to be hereditary since my dad used to fight gout and his just kind of went away in his mid 40s too. Good luck, gout sucks....

Allopurinol is dirt cheap. Im a pharmacist and I sell allopurinol 100mg for around four dollars. 300mg is a little more expensive but i would imagine that your pharmacy has a club you can join or you have a deductible on your insurance and the insurance is tacking that on to cover that deductible. Allopurinol should NEVER EVER be over 30 dollars or so for 30 tablets.
