    E-Tec startup

I have a 2006 175 E-TEC ...starts perfect and idles fine but the engine seems to be in slow mode as it will not take any throttle until it runs about a minute or so and once a little temp is built then it will take the throttle and runs perfect throughout the day......only does this during the initial startup.......is this normal?......B-lou

No, Your dealer can give you the latest map or check the engine temps at start up and fix this problem. The gurus can be more specific than I can.

Is the throttle cable adjusted so that there is NO play whatsoever yet not too tight to cause a binding condition?

If there is any play in the engine throttle cam lever, that could be your problem. See your tech to be sure.

No play whatever in the linkage and works as smooth as can be.......almost acts like a problem with the TPS as you can hear the sound of the motor change when you give it throttle just no rpm change.....it makes no difference forward or reverse acts the same until about a minute is up then decides to go and runs like a top the rest of the day........B-lou

The latest laptop software will help the tech if it is a T.P. issue.

Ask the tech to check for any CODE 11 errors stored in your EMM. That is related possibly to your starting issue when you get a "no go" at first.

Also have him watch the temp sensors from startup to warm up to see if they are reading correctly as well as any glitches in the TPS (throttle position sensor)
