need some input on storage sheds - resin or platic ??

Want to get some things out of my garage - mostly all the gas powered lawn equipment, pressure washer, and lawn tools - just making more room.

I don't really want to sink a TON of money into a decent shed if I don't have to. I know a built wooden one with shingles would probably be the best, but for easy of assembly and cost how do the plastic / resin type sheds hold up ?? Anyone have any long term feedback ? The online reviews are decent

    Here's about what I want :

I have never had one or even know someone with one..... the only thing I think would be bad in your area would be the RELENTLESS Texas sun/heat. Probably would be rough on that plastic.

No personal experience, but I would be concerned with being in the sun down there... dry rot is a big factor with plastic and/or resin. For long term, I'd think shingles would be your best bet in the sun. If you don't mind replacing it evey couple of years, I would think resin would be the better choice of the two.

I have to think that sun kills them fairly quickly. Given the way you built your deck, I would think you could build yourself a pretty slick shed.

Temple, I built a 10 x 12 shed a couple years ago and it only cost about $900 in materials. Very easy to build, and you can save a bunch of money by building the walls 2' on center instead of 16". If you'd like some advice or help with figuring out materials on building it yourself, let me know. Give me the dimensions and I can figure out the materials for you. Wont take me too much time.

My buddy had a plastic shed at his last house. He said it was pretty decent until a big wind storm came thru and once the doors popped open, it blew apart. He was able to get it all back together and added some reinforcement to the seams and it was good from then on.

My father in law has one like that.......it's lasted about 6 years so far with no problems. He had it down at the lake for his camper stuff......and when he sold it brought it home and uses it here. Like I said - no problems with it so far, and it's like a wind tunnel at his house - sits in direct sunlight too.

We've had one of those 8x10 Rubbermaid sheds for 6 years now and it's still as good as new.

Not sure how far in Texas they go, but Derksen Portable Buildings makes a great wood building. I don't know how much they cost though.

Gina and I were at Lowes on summer day and saw a Summer storm come through and blow (pieces of) their demo shed across the lot and severely damage about 6 cars. If you can, I would think a small pole barn with T-111 siding and vinyl sheet roofing would be cheaper and stronger. Gravel floor on a budget and pour concrete when $ allows

i was in the same position this time last year. ended up going with a wooden kit from Lowes. http://www.lowes.com/pd_239960...tInfo=

never looked back. comes with everything needed except a roof vent and shingles. i built an elevated platform out of 2x10s and a ramp. couldnt be happier. its got a real convienient loft...i guess you cold install an elevator if you needed to.

Go with wood....I've got one of the heavy plastic ones (Rubbermaid) and it was great for about a year. Now the doors are bowed and the roof line isn't straight anymore. I set it up pretty well with a solid floor underneath it to go along with it's plastic base but it still didn't hold up well.
