    Squirrel extraction 101

So, I'm minding my own business yesterday and my daughter comes in and says my car is making noise......funny I think, because I haven't driven it all day. I go outside and sure enough I hear a little chattering sound. Great...wild animal.

I open the drivers side door and look in the door jam, there, I can see at least 3 small squirrel faces. FFS........my engine light went on this week, and now I'm thinking they chewed through something and that is the cause. I carefully pop the hood and lift it up and mom squirrel bolts out. I see the inside of the drivers side quarter is full of spanish moss.

The baby squirrels must have fallen out of the nest and slid their way down to the lowest point of the wheel well behnd the tire. I started unscrewing the ground effects and splash guards to no avail, they come off but there is solid metal behind it. I pop the plastic rivets on the wheel well and have like a 4 square inch area to work with.

My wife gently pokes the little guys with a stick, trying to make them go to the opening where I wait with long nose pliers..........where I gently tried to grab their tails and pull them out. It took about an hour and a half but we managed to get all 4 of them out......each time I'd put one in a small box and near my garden. The little one would sit a minute and them call for its mother, who immediately came and took it away.

Bastard did chew through one wire, not sure what it is for. Lights all work. If I put some moth balls in there will that deter them from returning?
    Question everything!

Had a red squirrel in the attic one time. I decided to catch him with a trout net. Things were going pretty up until I had him covered with the net on the window sill. Shook him to the bottom of the net and flipped the net over. He was outta there so quick I didn't have time to cuss. Went up my arm and down my back to the floor.

That's when I decided setting a rat trap was a much better option.

I have squirrels, mice and chipmunks in the yard. Moth balls are supposed to work. I use them to winterize my boat. So far so good for 3 years. One of my indoor cats was pi/sing in the basement and I tried mothballs around the spot there. She hasnt done it since.

Someone told me this one recently because I have chipmunks in the shed in the back yard. Dirty cat litter. I guess the urine smell. I havent tried it.
