    fouling plugs

00' 175 ficht. was running like a raped ape, but it likes to foul plug(s) when i idle more than a few minutes, particularily on #3. though the gas in there has been treated, it is old. would the older gas cause the fouling on specific plugs and not all of them? i already plan on changing the fuel filter again with fresh plugs and gas.

    Re: fouling plugs (moto)

If # 3 is fouling, you may need a new oil pump. The diaphram may be leaking . Old fuel will not burn off as completely as new fuel . The plugs will always have a dry soot on them, should not be a wet soot after a good run. Are the plugs indexed and gapped to .028-.030? If they are not indexed properly, they foul quicker and affect performance. A good decarboning will help you out also.
