My sister and grandfather-in-law live there and we go several times a year, usually at least once during the summer for vacation. The beach is very clean and usually not terribly crowded, even during holidays. You can get pretty good deals on beachfront condos on http://www.vrbo.com look up gulf shores, Orange beach, or Fort Morgan, they are all the same area, Fort Morgan and Orange Beach are on the outskirts of Gulf Shores and a little less crowed but still close enough to enjoy the attractions and food. There are the usual gift shops, mini golf, go carts, parasailing, jet skis, etc you find at most beaches. Lots of good restaurants, Bahama Bob's is good as well as Lambert's Home of the throw'd rolls in Foley, Al up the road.
I hope this helps, IM me if you have any more questions, if I can't answer them, I'll call my sis and ask her.
we always stay in Orange Beach. if your looking for a condo check out Palm Beach. its a smaller complex in OB and right next to the state park so the beach isnt near as crowded. have fun!

I just got back from there on Sunday. It is a very nice place to vacation. We stayed at the Phoenix V. My inlaws have a condo there. They stay there for 3 months every winter.
We went on a Dophin cruise. My kids loved it. You can almost touch the dolphins when they jump behind the boat.
The food was amazing (if you like seafood). I found out that I love southern style food. I had Gumbo for the first time and I am addicted to it. If you go down there you have to go to Lamberts Cafe in Foley. My kids had a blast. throwedrolls.com
The navel air Museum in Pensicola was a good time for the kids and myself.
Alligator alley was a big hit with the family. It was sunny and 70 degrees so, all of the alligators were out sunning themselves.
We did alot of driving around and just looking at all of the different things to see.

I lived in Summerdale, Alabama for 4 years. That's about 15 miles north of the beach at Gulf Shores. Just moved back home last fall. If you've got any questions...just IM me.

Of course I talk to myself...sometimes I need expert advice.
Look to rent a house. We go every year for a week and stay right on the beach. Same beaches as Destin w/o the crowds. Plenty of good places to eat too![]()
