She was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer in October of last year. She elected not to treat it, but to stay comfortable for her remaining time here. She had stated that all of her old friends had already passed and she had no one her age around anymore. She was a retired social worker who had finished her masters degree when she was already in her 60's. This came after a career as an English teacher for elementary grades. She believed in life long learning and took every chance to read about something new. She was a volunteer at a homeless shelter up until her diagnosis in October.
