Suspension knock front end on car?

Car is a 2002 Mazda protege and has a knock that sounds like it's from the front end on slower bumps like driving on crappy town roads at 5-15 mph. Sounds fine at hi-way speed such as bridges and other bumps at speed.

Front struts should be good and tight and alignments is good.

Car has low profile tires and rides like a brick.

Could be brake pads rattling??? Calipers loose? If it only does it in a turn could be CV joint.

happened to my wife's SUV..just like you described...it ended up being a bad lower ball joint. These newer vehicles do not have serviceable ball joints (i.e. no grease fitting)

check to see if the sway bar link is broke or the swaybar frame mount bushing may have came out of the bracket

If it's front wheel drive all that extra weight is hell on the CV axles. Jack it up on that side and see if there is lots of play/loose feeling.

This would be my guess. I replaced the ones on my car and it took care of the "knock"

sway bar link bad on at least one side would be my guess. Mazda's are bad about it.

I had the same issue and it was a sway bar problem.
